Say you have a Normal Storage Container (24 Stacks) already filled with Iron Ore (Stack Size: 100) to end up with stored 2400 Iron Ore.Say you are using a Mk 1 Conveyor Belt (60 Items per Minute) to bring new Iron Ore to a Normal Storage Container.Say you have a non-overclocked Mk 1 Miner running 100% on a Normal Iron Node producing 60 Iron Ore per Minute.Let's take u/SoopyPoots info and turn it into an example: I hope this helps the OP understand better. MAIN ANSWER: You can split / merge conveyor belts with either only one item or multiple items on it.Programmable Splitters, also unlocked in the Caterium Tree in the MAM, can send multiple types of items to one of three outputs and are often used in the following pattern: Left Output - Item-A, Item B, Item C (etc.), Right Output - Item X, Item Y, Item-Z (etc.), Center Output "Overflow" anything not otherwise defined to go Left or Right.Smart Splitters, unlocked in the Caterium Tree in the MAM can send one particular item to one of three outputs and are often used in the following pattern: Left Output - Item-A, Right Output - Item B, Center Output "Overflow" anything not Item-A or Item-B.Normal Splitters simply split Input into one of three possible Outputs resulting in dividing Input into each Output being 1/2 or 1/3 of the Input Items per Minute Rate.can I only split/merge conveyor belts with the same item on it? You should never store Ore in any Storage Container but it should be sent directly to the Smelter, Foundry, or Constructor depending on the Resource being Mined. I currently store each ore in one storage container.

➔ THAT SAID, it is normal practice, and for simplicity sake, that you only store one "type" of item per each Storage Container. However, the Industrial Storage Container has two inputs so it is possible to connect two conveyor belts to it, with each conveyor belt having a different item or mix of items, without the need to Merge before hand. But you can Merge two Conveyor Belts into one and connect that to a Storage Container which will then have a "mix of items". The Normal Storage Container only has one Input and one Output so you can't connect two conveyor belts to it. Title Question: Can I merge two conveyor belts with different items on them together in one storage box?
